MEDIA: Autumn date for Cosmo launches

The Cosmopolitan stable is set for a busy autumn, with the launch

of two more brands to extend the reach of its 460,000-selling women's

glossy.



The much anticipated National Magazine Company spin-off, CosmoGIRL!,

will hit news-stands on 20 September, promising a 'sophisticated, glossy

approach' to the teen market.



CosmoGIRL! editor Celia Duncan denied that the project had lost its way,

and revealed details of her editorial team. It includes features editor

Miranda Easton, who held a similar position on Attic Futura's Sugar.

Easton has also worked on the launch of B magazine and on 19 and Top of

the Pops magazine.



However, Duncan refused to comment on planned content or covers.



Entertainment editor James Williams was Top of the Pops magazine

assistant editor while beauty editor Donna Hubbard was previously deputy

health and beauty editor on Company.



The product has been in development at NatMags for two years, with

project work beginning on it in earnest in July 2000 under Catherine

Duffy, who is now art director.



Also in September, Cosmopolitan Bride launches under editor Catherine

Westwood, currently fashion editor of The Sun. NatMags already part-owns

a bridal magazine, You & Your Wedding, but Westwood said: 'It is about

time that young, sassy, modern women were catered for. There are lots of

girls who want traditional weddings and we will cater for them, but

there will also be ideas for women with an offbeat look and ideas for

doing things on a budget.'
