MEDIA: to supply portal Lycos with editorial

Women's interest website has struck a deal to supply

editorial content to internet portal Lycos UK. will supply six lead stories to Lycos every week in the

areas of health and beauty, careers, family home and garden, food and

drink, relationships, and sport and fitness.

Lycos will promote the content alongside its other features, search

engine and services such as free e-mail and shopping.

Lycos UK, part of Lycos Europe, will also link to from its

own lifestyle homepage. editorial director Sheila Sang said the deal had been struck

because Lycos UK was one of the most popular portals for women in its

target audience.

'We have strong content that is refreshed regularly, so we're glad it

will get a wider audience. It's an opportunity for PR people to make

their story go further,' she said.

Sang added: 'We have a good relationship with Lycos and there's

definitely scope for developing that where they have other content needs

that can be met by,' she said.

The women's website launched in October 1999 as a joint venture between

Boots The Chemists and Hollinger Telegraph New Media.

It has brand awareness of 44 per cent with women aged 15 to 65-plus,

according to a recent BRMB survey. Its last ABCElectronic audit showed

it had 367,071 unique users in November 2000.

The site uses a number of celebrity and expert writers on its site,

including Gabby Yorath on football and Susie Orbach on psychotherapy.
