US site GetMusic begins agency hunt for UK launch

US music website GetMusic is searching for a PR agency in the UK

ahead of its London launch later this spring.

The site - jointly owned by Bertlesmann and Universal Vivendi - has

confirmed it is initiating talks with agencies in order to hire external

PR support.

GetMusic vice-president of PR Laurie Rubenstein, based in New York, said

they were 'exploring PR options', although she stressed it was early

days.

GetMusic hired managing director David Fischer in January to lead its

London headquarters and international expansion, but is yet to roll out

regional websites.

After the UK, GetMusic International is launching sites in France,

Germany and Japan.

No details were given on the type of account up for grabs in the UK, but

Rubenstein said in the US PR covers corporate and consumer work, plus

trade and entertainment press relations.

Parent company Universal Media Group is currently negotiating to buy

BMG, a unit of Bertlesmann, out of the jointly-owned website.

GetMusic was launched two years ago in the US to compete with sites such

as mtv.com and CDnow.
