Flack: (Saving) on Expenses - Tendido Cero, London SW5

Reviewer: Christina Aylmer-Pearse, senior account manager, Eulogy

What is it good for?

Tendido Cero is a top-notch Spanish tapas restaurant and a gem among the otherwise bland chains near Earl's Court. It is adorned with bright Spanish art and knowledgeable waiters, yet without the noise and cramped tables of some tapas restaurants.

Signature dishes

All the Iberian classics are here and all skilfully prepared. Core to this is quality ingredients, not swimming in oil, but delicate, exciting flavours. Must-haves include the pardon peppers, tuna tartar, green salad with peral cheese, honey and artichoke chips and, of course, chorizo.

Who's the boss?

Abel Lusa.

Tips please

Tendido Cero is the sister restaurant of the more upmarket and far pricier Cambio de Tercio across the road. If you are after quality, good value food and a less formal SW London atmosphere, then stick to this side of the road.

What's the damage?

With most tapas priced between £6 and £7.50, it is easy to dine for £15-£20-a-head.

Tendido Cero, 174 Old Brompton Road, SW5 OBA. 020 7370 3685.
