Hill+Knowlton Strategies Europe chairman and CEO Sally Costerton is to leave the firm at the end of the year. Her responsibilities will be assumed by Richard Millar, CEO of H+K UK, and Lars Erik Gronntun, president H+K North East Central Europe.

Burson-Marsteller has promoted Ben Maynard to head up its UK tech practice. He takes over from Chris Cartwright, who is taking the role of MD at Burson-Marsteller Geneva.

Media Square, the marcoms group that owns Smarts, has been bought out by its management team under the name of MSQ Partners.

Energy UK, the comms body for gas and electricity companies, has appointed Will Roberts as head of comms and public affairs. He joins from Network Rail, where he was head of comms, emerging projects.

O2 has asked Hope&Glory to run a pre-Christmas campaign that enables Twitter users to send each other video messages, recorded by Santa from O2's 'digital grotto'.

Ketchum Pleon Paris has merged with fellow Omnicom Group agency DDB Financial to beef up its financial comms offering.
