Ketchum has promoted James Maxwell to become European MD. Maxwell
takes over the European brief from New York-based senior
partner/international Jerry Olszewski. Olszewski had been looking after
the European brief despite moving back to the US two years ago.
Ketchum Europe is predicted to have total fee income for 2000 of pounds
15m, accounting for an estimated 15-20 per cent of total worldwide
Ketchum revenues.
Earlier this year, (PR Week UK, 12 May) Maxwell stepped back from the
day-to-day running of the UK operation.
In his place a ten-member management board was announced with Maxwell as
chair and Jane Boardman and Richard Houghton made joint managing
directors.
Houghton quit only three weeks after taking the role to join Firefly (PR
Week, 30 June) to set up a sister agency, Carrot.
Maxwell's time will be divided between the agency's five European
offices.
He confirmed that the Omnicom-backed agency was seeking to grow through
acquisition and internal growth. Maxwell will report to Olszewski.
