The social network has turned to BT public affairs chief Simon Milner as it looks to step up its lobbying around online safety and privacy issues.
Milner is currently director of group industry policy at BT. He has overseen the firm's lobbying around the Digital Economy Act and on issues such as copyright protection and child internet safety.
Before joining BT, Milner was secretary of the BBC, leading the corporation's governance and accountability functions.
In his new role, Milner will report to Richard Allan, Facebook's director of policy for the EMEA region.
