DIARY: Fifty-plus interviews a day leave mag editor needing phone break

News reaches Diary that the editor-in-chief of Your Mortgage

magazine, Andy Stuart, may be seeking a weekend break in a quiet spa

town or CenterParcs venue for recuperation.

Poor Stuart is suffering from an increasingly common affliction called

'toomuchmediainterestitis', which has been known to strike editors (ask

PRWeek's own Kate Nicholas following Ms Wessex's recent indiscretions)

and in-house PROs without warning.

Quite often the condition is unwittingly compounded by over-zealous PR

agencies working on behalf of the sufferer; in Andy's case, personal

finance PR specialists, Lansons Communications.

He undertook more than 55 media interviews in one day when Your Mortgage

published a story about how the current economic situation is likely to

affect house prices over the next five years. When asked by PRWeek about

his ordeal, which began at 7am, Andy replied hilariously: 'Not another

bloody quote!'

Diary wonders if there is a market for an exclusive health-club/clinic

catering for knackered and beleaguered editors and PROs.
