AMV Advance PR has been appointed by the British Marine Industries
Federation (BMIF) to handle consumer PR for its London and Southampton
boat shows after a four-way pitch.
The agency will help with the boat show's 2004 move from its traditional
Earl's Court home to the recently-completed ExCel exhibition centre in
Docklands, east London.
AMVA will join forces with Fishburn Hedges, which has also been
appointed to handle corporate and public affairs for the BMIF.
Both agencies are subsidiaries of ad giant Abbot Mead Vickers BBDO.
AMVA beat Hill & Knowlton, Burson-Marsteller and the incumbent Harrison
Saddler in the pitch.
'AMVA is to build a consumer programme for Windsor's boating trade
fair,' said group PR director Lucinda Evans, who will report to the boat
show's marketing director James Gower on the account.
Evans will lead a team of four on the 12-month contract, and will
support BMIF work year-round.
