The Scotsman is expanding specialist coverage with the appointment
of a business reporter in its Glasgow office. Executive editor Ramsay
Smith said: 'Demographics dictate that a lot of material is generated by
west-central Scotland. We can see more expansion although we are not
making any silly statements about it.' The paper, whose base has
traditionally been in Edinburgh, has upped its presence in Glasgow,
where it now has a dozen-strong news team.
