INTERNATIONAL: Four PA execs quit Weber Shandwick and head for APCO

HONG KONG: Four executives who walked out of Weber Shandwick last

month have joined rival public affairs firm APCO.

The four recruits - Vivian Fung, Christina Lai, Vivian Lau, and Stella

Cheang - were hired as a team following Fung's initial approach. Lai,

Cheang, and Lau joined Fung within a week of her departure.

They will join senior associate Katherine Wang to form the first non-PA

team at APCO, led by Fung as director of strategic comms. The departures

are the first since Weber and Shandwick merged in January.

Fung would not comment on her reasons for leaving Weber Shandwick, but

sources said the merger was not a factor.

APCO Hong Kong managing director Richard Burn said: 'We didn't set out

to hire the whole team, only Vivian. The other three followed and we

consider ourselves fortunate to be able to hire a whole team in one

go.'

The move is the start of plans to offer full PR services in Hong Kong.
