Hill & Knowlton joins Edelman in offering BSE unit

Hill & Knowlton has set up a global practice dedicated to handling

the BSE crisis.

The agency will be targeting industries affected by the crisis, mostly

food producers and retailers, offering crisis management, corporate

reputation management and health advice.

The practice is divided into three areas. Associate director Christina

Kaul heads the Europe team in Brussels, Washington DC public affairs

vice-president Frank Mankiewicz leads in the US and Canadian PA

vice-president Mike McNaney takes charge in Ottawa. All report to Elaine

Cruikshanks, Hill & Knowlton Brussels MD, who leads the practice.

H&K European marketing vice-president Dominic Shales said: 'This is the

first single-issue group that's been brought together by us.

'The affect of this issue is far reaching. It affects not only the food

industry but also the consumer.'

Last week (PRWeek, 9 March), Edelman's Washington office set up its own

BSE practice, along with agency subsidiary StrategyOne, called the BSE
