Whitbread places community PR in hands of Leedex

Brewery and leisure services giant Whitbread has appointed Leedex

EURO RSCG to handle PR for its community investment programme.

Leedex, which has offices in London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol and

Edinburgh, is to provide support at a regional level. It replaces the

previous nine local agency arrangement used on past campaigns for the

annual initiative.

Leedex MD Brian Beech is to head the six-figure account, won after a

two-way pitch with Harrison Cowley, and will report to Whitbread's group

PR manager Jeremy Probert.

'The umbrella theme of the programme will be youth, with the objective

being that of helping young people achieve their potential,' said


Together with the MD of the Leeds office, Richard Harrison, and the MD

of the London office, Sarah Muirhead, Breech will lead a team of six for

the regional roll-out later in the year.

Whitbread's Probert said the company's expansion in recent years had

demanded a consistent national message for the community initiative,

which has 'grown significantly'. It aids charities and other

organisations via a seven-figure donation.
