LD Publicity wins Smash Hits Poll Winners account

LD Publicity has been appointed to handle PR for this year's Smash

Hits Poll Winners' Party without a competitive pitch.

The brief - which is reviewed annually - will see the agency co-ordinate

publicity for the awards ceremony and the series of concerts that

precedes it.

LD's brief will be to cover TV, radio and print promotions, as well as

some work with the trade and specialist music press.

The appointment is designed to reflect a fresh direction for the awards,

with the nature of the revamp announced when the awards are relaunched

in the autumn.

The agency's team, which has handled PR for the BRIT Awards for the last

ten years, will be led by CEO Bernard Doherty, reporting to Malcolm

McKenzie, MD of music and events at Emap performance.

In addition to the Smash Hits account, LD has also recently been

appointed to handle PR for American rock group Bon Jovi and London's

Mardi Gras festival.
