The manufacturer of wood-care products currently uses Lucre. The Leeds-based agency is repitching for the business.
Lucre's campaign work has included a search for the UK's worst pub beer garden and its subsequent makeover by celebrity gardener Charlie Dimmock.
Ronseal comms manager Kate Sitch declined to discuss the brief but confirmed that a pitch process was under way, adding that an agency had not yet been appointed.
The company, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sherwin-Williams Company, is based in Sheffield.
