BRUSSELS: Insurance group Zurich Financial Services (ZFS) has hired
public affairs firm Policy Action to improve links with key
decision-makers in the European Union.
Policy Action, headquartered in Brussels, won the account following a
four-month competitive pitch, which is believed to have included up to
The account is headed by Policy Action's Brussels head Lucy Cronin, who
reports to Sophie Timms, ZFS government and industry affairs policy
'The brief is to inform middle and high management in ZFS as to how
their divisions can be affected by the EU,' said Cronin. 'It will also
involve introducing people in ZFS to the key EU decision-makers.'
She added: 'They want the knowledge of, and involvement in, the
decision-making processes in the EU without it being in-your-face
Policy Action also announced plans to open a London office, in place of
the existing temporary Kent-based operation, and to launch a
Washington-based division later in the year.
The agency will be recruiting to staff the Washington office, which is
likely to be headed by co-managing director Wes Himes, who previously
worked in Washington with the American Legislative Exchange Council as
director of state development.
Policy Action launched in November 1999.
