Opinion: Letters of the Week - The CIPR should embrace a bit of healthy competition

The spat over the roles of the CIPR and PRCA is in danger of looking like a bid for monopoly status by the CIPR.

We embrace competition in every part of our professional lives and it is for us as PR practitioners to decide whom we wish to represent us. We will vote with our training budgets and membership money.

A choice of organisations is healthy. It is a little bit like a rugby team that has two players competing for one shirt - it makes both raise their game.

The CIPR should stop complaining and take this as a message to improve its offer.

Cormac Smith, head of comms, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
