Freshwater has placed a rather astonishing case study on its website about how the agency was brought in to help with crisis comms around an outbreak of clostridium difficile at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

The case study proudly proclaims that Freshwater Healthcare was able to restrict negative publicity to a 24-hour news cycle, 'despite the fact that the Healthcare Commission inquiry found that 334 patients had acquired CDI while in hospital and that 33 had died from the infection'. Hmmm, nice work, guys ... The BBC is becoming frustrated with the Daily Mail's 'revelations' that the corporation has banned the use of the terms BC and AD. First, the Mail told how the Government had been forced to 'safeguard' BC and AD, then the Vatican's official newspaper weighed in - even though the BBC has continuously denied it all. Director of comms Paul Myrea said: 'It reminds me of my old days on newspapers when the motto was "Never let the facts ruin a good story".' Beige junior account manager Michael Hickson has turned up on a 'wacky' tribute to Wham's 80s hit Club Tropicana, filmed while on a lads' holiday in Malaga. Hickson - who is rumoured to have once been a boy band member - can be seen donning a selection of fetching blonde wigs to belt out the classic.
