In an unconventional bid for tabloid coverage, the US singer - best known for her hit single 'I Kissed a Girl and I Liked It' - told The Sun of her affection for the British favourite foodstuff, adding: 'They do bloat me and I'm afraid I'm going to go off like a firework.'

Who didn't read the story about Katy Perry loving good old British baked beans without a smile on their face? Even if you were a little disturbed by the thought of her 'going off like a firework', it's nice to see a US superstar bigging up a humble food product that we've all grown up with.
Perry is very media savvy to know this kind of anecdote shared with The Sun is going to fly across the British media - accompanied by pictures of her looking perfect and un-bean-bellied.
It wouldn't hurt a British star wanting coverage in the States to say the same about Oreos (perhaps without the bit about farting as they're all white toothed and perfect over there). Perry looks funny, normal and you can completely see she's embracing her husband's motherland - which helps puts paid to rumours that they're not getting on.
