Luxury hotel chain Conrad Hotels has hired Richard Blamey to head
its communications worldwide.
Blamey takes on the recently-created role of vice-president -
He joins from internet services company Open World, where he was
managing director of marketing and sales for the last year.
Reporting to Conrad president Clem Barter, Blamey will oversee the
development of the Conrad brand globally and implement strategies for
all aspects of marketing and communications.
His appointment follows the announcement late last year that Conrad and
Hilton Hotels have formed a joint venture to expand the Conrad

'He will be making sure the PR is following the communications strategy
created to expand the luxury aspect of Conrad hotels,' said PR director
Catherine Couplan, who now reports to Blamey.
'We intend to expand in the next five years so it's important that
there's co-ordination between marketing and PR,' she added.
Blamey will divide his time between London and Brussels.
