Marketeer goes outside PR to fill director position

Travel PR consultancy Marketeer has appointed Peter Holyoake,

currently head of sales and marketing at TTC Training, as a director,

with a promotion to managing director planned for 2002.

The appointment is intended to strengthen the strategic marketing and

general management capability of the board, and follows a lengthy search

for the right candidate.

Marketeer CEO Keith Searby said that the firm had been 'keen to get

someone who had faced consultancies before but not worked in them'. He

saw the recruitment - to the newly-created post - as 'forward thinking'

in the appointment of a candidate from industry rather than PR.

It is hoped that the appointment will enable Marketeer to expand further

in the travel and leisure market, and that Holyoake will become involved

in account work and client relations.

Holyoake leaves TTC after seven years, and will take up the Marketeer

position this summer.

During his time with TTC it was reconstituted and rebranded from the

ABTA National Training Board, becoming a subsidiary of the travel

watchdog.
