Permanent comms team for disability commission

The Disability Rights Commission is building its first

communications team.

Five posts have been created at the DRC, which was set up in May


The role of head of marketing and external affairs will report to

director of communications and change Liz Sayce and work alongside head

of PR Alison Rose.

Roles of publishing and internet manager, marketing and events manager

and two officers in editorial and marketing have also been created.

All will report to the head of marketing and external affairs post.

Sayce said: 'We have a communications team in place who, along with

consultants, have been carrying out these roles. Now it is time we make

them permanent positions and build our team up. These roles are about

increasing our profile, getting our name known and making full use of

technology such as the internet.'

She added that the commission will also be looking to create more PRO

roles in the near future to add to Rose's team of four.

The DRC was created to work for the disabled, promoting equal

opportunities, tackling discrimination and advising the government on
