Kent County Council recruits Matt Burrows as comms boss

Kent County Council has appointed Croydon Council's head of comms to lead its comms operation.

Kent County Council: Key hire

Matt Burrows joins Kent as director of comms and engagement, having worked at Croydon since 2007.

He replaces interim head of comms Jill Rawlins.

Last week, PRWeek revealed that Kent had promoted Marcus Chrysostomou to head of marketing and external comms, from his previous role as media manager.

Burrows was previously head of news and content at Guardian Media and Newsquest Media. His start date is yet to be confirmed.

The news comes as it was revealed that Kent has made the most redundancies of any English council, with 3,107 jobs being lost since the coalition Government came into power, according to the GMB union.
