Wilson is set to join the organisation from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) where she is currently the head of strategic communications, campaigns and marketing.

UK Sport is the strategic lead body for high performance sport in the UK, and invests Exchequer and National Lottery funds in Britain’s best Olympic and Paralympic sports and athletes to maximise their chances of success on the world stage.

Wilson’s appointment completes a comms restructure at UK Sport following the departure of chief operating officer Tim Hollingsworth, who left the organisation to head up the British Paralympic Association. As part of his role, Hollingsworth had previously overseen communications at UK Sport.

In July, the organisation appointed Simon Morton as director of major events and international relations.

Wilson is set to join UK Sport in December and will drive its commercial, communications and public affairs activity.

Commenting on her appointment, she said: ‘As an organisation that is crucial to the success of British athletes at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, UK Sport has a unique opportunity to showcase and strengthen the high performance sporting system in the coming year.’

Before her role at Defra, Wilson was formerly head of the strategic comms planning unit at the Department for Education and Skills.
