Siemens creates specific comms role for mobiles

The mobile phones division of Siemens has created a dedicated UK PR

role within its marketing team.

The company, which employs more than 27,000 globally and turned over

pounds 6bn in the last financial year, has transferred Simon Robinson

into the role. His move coincides with a pounds 4m ad campaign for

Siemens mobile phones.

He will report to marketing manager Sue Rowe. Previously, PR was handled

through Rowe and a team from Weber Shandwick Worldwide's corporate

practice led by director Amy Rudgard. The agency will still work for

Siemens but will report through Robinson.

Robinson joins from within Siemens, where he has spent the past two

years as communications manager in its business services division.

The mobile devices arm of Siemens specialises in mobile phones, but also

makes mobile organisers and cordless phones.
