3 October - Facebook is forging a partnership with security firm Websense in order to protect users from dangerous links that lead to malicious websites and malware sites. Going forward, when a Facebook user clicks on a link, the new system will first check the link against Websense's system to determine whether it's safe. If it's not, a message is displayed warning the user that the link is potentially harmful and suggests you return to the previous page ...

3 October - Amazon is selling its Kindle Fire tablet at a loss, according to a market research company. Each tablet costs Amazon £134 to make, according to IHS iSuppli's breakdown of manufacturing costs, reported by Reuters.

So with the £127 price tag, Amazon is losing about £6 a tablet. Good business? Or short-sightedness? Amazon is hoping to recoup the loss by the tablet encouraging more people to buy more movies, e-books and music ...
