INTERNATIONAL: Senior recruits set to spearhead BAE Saudi comms arm

SAUDI ARABIA: Global systems, defence and aerospace organisation

BAE Systems has made two key senior hires to spearhead the launch of an

in-house corporate communications division in Saudi Arabia.

The firm, previously known as British Aerospace prior to its merger with

Marconi Electronic Systems two years ago, has taken on former Gulf Hill

& Knowlton vice-chairman Nigel Perry as manager of corporate

communications. It has also hired Walid Abukhaled, formerly BAE aircraft

technical services manager, as PA manager.

'The broadening of our constituencies, allied to a higher focus for

Arabic language and employee communications, has led the company to form

this department,' said Peter Wilson, BAE managing director of

international programmes.

Perry leaves Gulf H&K after 19 years. He joined Gulf PR - H&K's Middle

East affiliate - in 1982, three years before it was acquired by the WPP

H&K regional director Jim Donaldson and Gulf MD Andrew Mackay assume

Perry's responsibilities.
