Compensation body PR head to face profile task

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) - a one-stop shop

for all financial compensation claims - is on the hunt for a

communications head.

FSCS, which has been created by the merger of six existing schemes, is

seeking a head of communications to oversee all PR, develop

communications strategies and review external PR support.

The group - set up for customers of banks, building societies, insurers

and independent financial advisers - is to launch in November when the

Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 is put in place.

FSCS chief executive Suzanne McCarthy said: 'It's important for the

industry to know who we are.

'I'm looking for someone who will help promote the scheme with the

industry sectors and the Financial Services Authority, working on

consumer education,' she added.

The communications head will report directly to McCarthy and will be

supported by a PRO.

Part of the recruit's remit will be to look at the scheme's external PR

support. The FSCS currently uses HBL Media for ad hoc project work.
