BORDER LINES: GM promotes PR veteran Snyder

DETROIT: General Motors has promoted Edd Snyder to the role of

executive director of corporate communications. Snyder, a 25-year PR

veteran who was hired by GM last year, was previously director of

communications for labour, manufacturing and community relations. He

will now oversee manufacturing, financial, public policy, electronic

media, diversity, philanthropy and non-automotive operations, reporting

to communication vice-president Steve Harris. Snyder previously worked

for Ford, Toyota and EDS. He replaces Tony Cervone, who has returned to

DaimlerChrysler as head of communications for North America.
