North-east PR and marketing agency DTW has won praise from the
Government for its 2000 Firework Safety Schools Campaign.
Guy Nissen, head of publicity at the DTi's consumer safety unit, has
told the agency he is pleased with preliminary results ahead of 5
November. A full evaluation is planned for next month.
Overseeing the campaign for the DTi for the third successive year, DTW
teamed up with education experts to teach children about the dangers of
fireworks.
Under the label 'Fooling with Fireworks Can Really Mess You Up', the DTW
team wrote material designed to fit in with the first three National
Curriculum key stages.
The team of five on the ten-month campaign was led by DTW director Robin
Treacher, who reported to Nissen.
'Reports back have been positive. It was a logistical nightmare but an
impressive operation. The material can be used across subjects from
history to physics,' said Treacher.
Where previous campaigns had focused on England, the 2000 strategy also
included Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
