Fuel PR has won an account to launch Germany-based international
coffee retailer Tchibo in the UK.
The company - Germany's answer to Starbucks - runs a chain of coffee
shops and sells its own branded fresh coffee. It has stores across
central Europe and Asia, and opened its first two British coffee shops
in Slough and Romford last week.
Fuel, which won the contract without a pitch, is handling all the
company's PR activities. The win represents a major account for the
fledgling PR agency, which launched last May.
MD Gillian Waddell, a founder of consumer agency Lyons Waddell which was
bought out by BSMG Worldwide four months ago (PR Week UK, 16 June), is
leading a team of three and will report to Tchibo general manager Rainer
'Tchibo is a refreshing retail concept and a big international player.
We aim to add to its success in the UK,' said Waddell.
