Financial PR specialist Brunswick has bagged the Financial Times'
European Union correspondent to serve as a partner in its London
office.
Michael Smith takes up the post at the UK's leading City PR firm after
18 years at the FT. Most recently he has been Brussels-based EU writer,
financial news editor and energy correspondent. He is set to start at
Brunswick early next year.
Brunswick has also made senior appointments in its Brussels office.
Richard Jacques, formerly first secretary at the UK's Permanent
Representation to the EU, joins as senior associate partner and head of
the office. Rebecca Timms has been hired as an associate partner from
Allen and Overy in Brussels, where she specialised in EU competition
law.
The Brussels office has been a base for London staff, but it will now
serve as a permanent operation.
