Edelman-owned global network PR21 has appointed Gus Weill as its
new president and CEO.
Weill joins from Burson-Marsteller's US corporate and financial
practice, where he has served as chairman for the last four years.
For Weill the move represents a return to the Edelman fold. He led
Edelman PR Worldwide's New York public affairs division for four years
before moving to B-M.
'I am intent on seeing PR21 join the ranks of maximally competitive
agencies. My goal is to go head-to-head with large and small firms, and
attract clients who are looking for a new economy feel,' he said.
Weill was appointed by Edelman chairman Richard Edelman, to whom he
reports.
Weill began his career as a television journalist. He has also worked as
a pollster at Penn and Schoen, and as a press aide to former New York
senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
PR21's European CEO Beverley Kaye said: 'My marketing background and
Gus' corporate experience complement each other. PR21 is very much a
standalone brand and Gus' appointment is a commitment to that.'
Kaye helped launch the re-branded Rowland Company as PR21 in Europe
after its sell off by Saatchi and Saatchi two months ago (PR Week UK, 8
September).
