Waste management firm Sita is to boost PR in the wake of last
month's appointment of a head of communications.
Achilleas Georgiou joined the company - Europe's largest waste services
operator with 6,000 staff and an annual turnover of pounds 400m in the
UK - at the turn of the year.
Sita plans to extend the use of PR agencies on a project basis. It uses
north-east agency DTW to handle PR for local authority projects. If Sita
wins further council work, more agencies will be taken on.
Sita spokeswoman Nicola Dowlen said the three-strong PR team could grow
before the end of 2001, but Georgiou would first review all PR work
before deciding on changes.
Georgiou joined Sita from the Greater London Authority, where he
developed and implemented the body's internal communications
