This is the first time M-Net has hired a UK PR agency. The move to reach out to a UK-based agency comes a week after it signed a new deal with Abidjan-based content distribution company Cote Ouest to help both companies expand their catalogue of African TV programmes to the English-speaking market.
Franklin Rae CEO Jill Franklin said: ‘We are going to help communicate the quality of M-Net’s African content as well as highlight the company’s ambitions for future development.
‘News and profiling around the international markets is key to our strategy.’
Franklin Rae will concentrate on placing a steady stream of news and comment pieces in the international trade press to promote the African production industry and taking African content to the international marketplace.
M-Net broadcasts to more than 3.7 million subscribers in 41 countries across Africa. It is also the curator of the world’s largest collection of African and South African film and television content.
