PA trio set up corporate social responsibility firm

A trio of public affairs specialists have set up their own company

to advise on corporate social responsibility.

The Smart Company has been founded by former NatWest public affairs head

Amanda Jordan, together with Viki Cooke and Deborah Mattinson, who

founded research company Opinion Leader Research in 1992.

The team are founding directors of the latest venture, which officially

launched this week to specialise in social, ethical and environmental

responsibility.

They have been joined by former senior public affairs manager at

NatWest, Peter Hughes, and Joe Franses, who joins from Profile Corporate

Communications, where he was director of the corporate responsibility

unit, to complete the team of five.

The company has also put in place an eight-strong advisory board, which

includes Harriet Harman MP.

'All of us have had an interest in CSR and we felt there was a real need

for an organisation like ours,' said Jordan.

'Society is beginning to demand and expect the highest standards of

conduct from businesses, NGOs and voluntary sector organisations and

many organisations recognise the value of being responsible citizens -

it can be crucial to both reputation and sustained success.'

Smart officially launched this week, but it has been working with

clients including the Halifax, National Trust and NSPCC and Camelot

since a soft launch late last year.
