Mellon Trust Europe, the custody arm of Mellon Bank, has taken on its first pan-European head of public relations, communications and marketing.
Tim Harrison joins as head of marketing services, with a PR and communications remit, from Abbey National's in-house corporate affairs team.
Reporting to director of sales and marketing Julian Tregoning, Harrison will head an initial team of two, rising to three in January, on a brief to raise the profile of the Mellon brand.
'Mellon Trust is not known for its breadth of offering across Europe or its true size and scale, so my main objective is to get those messages across,' said Harrison.
Mellon Trust is part of global financial services company, Mellon Financial Corporation. The group currently has nearly pounds 2 trillion in assets under management, administration or custody.
Until now, Mellon Trust's European operation has not had a dedicated communications function.
Harrison said: 'Mellon has grown throughout Europe very quickly and having been treated before as a far-flung outpost of the US business, it is now very much a driving force in its own right.'
