Lewis-Jones will be joined on the council by Nelson Bostock chairman Martin Bostock, as vice-chairman, and The Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners policy and communications director Keith Johnston, as secretary.
She said of her appointment: ‘It’s exciting to be working with fellow members to help influence, debate and inform the future growth of our industry. The role of the PR Council is to discuss the issues we face – to act as a think-tank of senior practitioners to inform and guide.'
Lewis-Jones, a former CIPR president, co-founded Liquid PR in 2004 after being MD at Willoughby PR.
She added: ‘During the next 12 months we’ll be building on the work undertaken in the council’s first year and projecting the ongoing development of our industry and subsequent needs.’
PRCA chief executive Francis Ingham said: ‘The strength of the PR Council is indicative of the superb talent in our membership. It is a fantastic voice for our wider industry. We need to make more of the success story that is the UK PR industry and Lis will be a fantastic advocate.’
The PRCA has also added Colin Byrne, Weber Shandwick CEO, to its board.
Byrne said: 'It is a pleasure to join such an esteemed group. The PRCA has done a great job representing the PR industry over the last few years and I look forward to helping it achieve its potential in the coming years.’
