Tulchan Communications, the City PR firm formed by ex-Brunswick partner Andrew Grant, has appointed its third partner. Former director of media relations for Barclays, Maria Darby, will join the 12-strong agency on 1 November.
The appointment comes just a month after Tulchan took on its second partner, Andrew Honnor, from Brunswick's New York office, where he was a senior associate partner (PR Week, 15 September).
On Darby's appointment, Grant said: 'We wanted to find a leading in-house practitioner to complement our financial and transactional skills. Maria also has experience of building up a business from scratch, which will be a huge help to us.'
Darby said her remit will include day-to-day management of the agency and building up the client portfolio. 'It's a case of looking for sustained growth and quality clients,' she said.
Darby left Barclays after less than 18 months in the job. While there, she managed the strategic announcements of the Woolwich takeover and the appointment of Matthew Barrett as group CEO.
She was previously a partner and director at financial services agency Lansons Communications, which she helped launch and worked at for ten years.
There she handled accounts including NatWest Stockbrokers, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Bank of Ireland. She also directed 13 award-winning PR campaigns.
