Woolworths has finally filled its vacant head of communications post, more than eight months after it fell empty.
Tesco international corporate affairs manager Nicole Lander is quitting the supermarket giant to join the rival retailer next month.
Lander has only been in the Tesco post on a temporary basis since the shake-up of the corporate affairs department by director Lucy Neville-Rolfe earlier this month (PR Week, October 13) She has been with the company for three years, as senior media relations manager.
In her new role, Lander will report to director of marketing Ken Lewis.
She will oversee a five-strong team covering the press office, public affairs and internal communications. Most corporate PR and the financial briefs are handled by parent company Kingfisher, which is in the process of demerging into two separate businesses of general retail and overseas operations.
It is not clear what impact Lander's arrival will have on the company's agency roster. Woolworths currently retains Shandwick for consumer and brand PR and Golin/Harris Ludgate for crisis management and some corporate PR. Other agencies have been used for specific projects in recent years.
