Sony Ericsson global comms head Aldo Liguori joins Japan's Fast Retailing

Aldo Liguori, former global comms head at Sony Ericsson, is to take a new role heading global PR at Japanese retail group Fast Retailing.

Based in Fast Retailing’s global office in Tokyo, Liguori will handle the group’s international PR and internal comms in a newly created role.  

Fast Retailing owns clothing brands and retailers Uniqlo, Princesse Tam Tam, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Theory and GU.  

Uniqlo is the group’s largest brand and has over a dozen stores in the UK alone.  

Liguori told PRWeek: ‘I’ve worked in the electronics industry for many years, but this is a fantastic opportunity to take on a challenge outside my comfort zone… I know the Uniqlo brand very well and I’m extremely excited to be joining the fast-paced clothing industry in a company that is rapidly growing.’  

Liguori has previously worked in Tokyo for Sony Corporation, heading up international PR from 1995 to 2000 before moving back to Europe.  

He announced his intention to step down from Sony Ericcson in March.  

Liguori moved to London to take up his role at Sony Ericsson in 2004. Before that, he headed comms for Sony Europe in Berlin for four years after his Tokyo-based role.  

Sony Ericsson promoted Cathy Davies to global head of comms and PR following Liguori’s announcement in March.
