MEDIA BRIEFS: Major players unite to supply ITV news

ITN's news supply deal with ITV will come under threat when it is next up for grabs at the end of 2002. A consortium comprising BSkyB, Bloomberg, CBS, Chrysalis Group and Ulster TV has announced it is to challenge for the contract. All five parties will own an equal share of the new company, in line with the Independent Television Commission's rule that no-one can have more than a 20 per cent interest in a news provider.
