DIARY: And on the 13th day of Xmas ... I received my own domain name

Remember: an e-mail address is for life and not just Christmas.

But that hasn't stopped a company, calling itself Dotcoms For Christmas, setting up to exploit the on-line potential for gift giving.

It offers unusual web addresses for the person who has everything. So instead of the usual aftershave and socks, you can instead give them The ManWhoHasEverything.com - a snip at pounds 25 including a free three-page web site.

Chrome Consulting was appointed on a profile-raising brief and so taken was agency MD Robert Metcalfe by the product that he has changed his domain name to rob@PR PersonWhoBelievesInThe Product.com.

A touching detail, and one that has led maverick IT newswire The Register to pour scorn on his attempts at client/agency empathy.

In a typically cynical piece writtenon the site where bitter old IT hacks are put out to pasture, the review finished ... 'and it's good to see a PR bunny putting their money where their mouth is'.

'It is the first time that I have been called a 'PR bunny', but I hope not the last,' says a not-hopping mad Metcalfe.

In fact, those journos at The Register may well have devised a cunning way to promote the site come Easter!
