NEW YORK: PR Newswire has promoted its European technical director to the global position of chief information officer and senior vice-president for technology.
David Michael starts immediately, taking over from Bill Pratt, who left to join a US publishing house.
In his last position, Michael headed a 50-strong team for two years.
In his new role he will oversee 200 people and lead the strategic planning and development of PR Newswire's global technical infrastructure.
Michael reports directly to Charles Morin, PR Newswire president and CEO.
'The key is to co-ordinate all the technology groups to provide global solutions for PR Newswire,' said Michael.
PR Newswire is actively recruiting for Michael's replacement in London.
Prior to his last position, Michael was technical director for Oxford Information Technology, which was acquired by PR Newswire's parent company United News and Media in 1994.
