The Telegraph Group has restructured its PR team in the wake of the creation last year of Hollinger Telegraph New Media.
Communications manager Joy Grover has been promoted to a newly-created head of communications post. She will take up the role on return from six-months maternity leave, which starts in December.
In the interim, Ceri Courtney has been appointed in Grover's post. She arrives from the charity Business in the Community, where she was PR and communications manager.
'My post is a result of new areas and ideas, one of which is to become more proactive in raising the Telegraph Group profile,' said Grover, who heads a team of seven and reports to marketing director Mark Dickson.
Courtney, who will become PR manager on Grover's return, has been given a brief to relaunch the Electronic Telegraph as telegraph.co.uk.
The Telegraph Group relies on agencies such as Financial Dynamics and consumer consultancy Camron PR, to undertake specific briefs.
The in-house appointments mirror the group's drive to make it more proactive in both on and off-line PR, Grover said.
