The prestigious Right Livelihood Awards - widely known as ‘the Alternative Nobel Prize’ - have been running since 1980 and honour those working on ‘practical and exemplary solutions to the most urgent challenges facing the world today’, with categories including human rights, education, health and peace.

Kinross + Render will work to raise awareness of the dangers faced by the awards’ past Laureates, many of whom are under threat of violence, intimidation and smear campaigns because their advocacy for change challenges the reputation of powerful regimes.

Birgit Jaeckel, comms consultant to the foundation, says: ‘A well-run PR campaign is crucial not only to raise the profile of the awards but to help protect those of our Laureates, for whom a media profile could reduce the risks of physical harm, imprisonment or defamation.

‘Kinross + Render has an excellent track record in both international programmes and campaigns for change and felt like a perfect fit.’

This year’s Laureates will be announced at the end of September and a presentation ceremony will be held in December at the Swedish Parliament in Stockholm
