The company, which manufactures software that enables companies to search data, has recommended the 2550p a share to shareholders.

Autonomy uses FD to handle its financial comms, with senior MD Ed Bridges leading the account since 1998.

The company has now appointed Brunswick as ‘joint PR adviser’ on the deal. UK-based partner Richard Jacques and director Chris Blundell lead Brunswick’s involvement.

Autonomy’s shares climbed 75 per cent on the announcement of the proposed takeover.

If the deal is approved by shareholders, Dr Mike Lynch will net more than £500m for his 8% stake. Analysts have suggested a counter-bid could still emerge.

The deal is part of a restructuring of HP’s business, which will see it spin off its PC businesses and shut down its phone and tablet arm to concentrate of software and IT services.
