Cahoot - Abbey National's online banking arm - has swapped consumer PR agencies, choosing Manning Selvage & Lee after a competitive five-way pitch.
MS&L replaces one-year incumbent Jackie Cooper PR, which is believed to have repitched for the account.
Cahoot PRO Hannah Chance said: 'The PR brief for 2001 had changed significantly from the original brief, hence the need to go out and pitch to ensure that our consumer media coverage was right for the Cahoot brand.'
A team of five will oversee the account, headed by executive director Fiona Cohen and associate director Janice Williams.
Reporting to Cahoot head of marketing Tim Sawyer and head of brand marketing Deborah Cutler, MS&L will work on a consumer remit to re-build the brand.
'We are going to be looking at consumers, with a specific view on women.
With most technology-based offerings, it's the men who have embraced them first, with women following, so we are targeting them in particular,' said Cohen.
Cahoot hired Jackie Cooper last February (PRWeek, 19 February 2000) for the bank's launch, which went ahead in June last year.
The over-21s bank, which is led by managing director Tim Murley, looks set to exceed its 100,000 customer target by the end of this month.
Cahoot provides both internet and mobile banking among its offerings.
