Horse-racing's governing body, the British Horseracing Board has appointed a head of communications following a year-long vacancy .
Since the departure of director of communications Peter Bell for personal reasons in February last year the position has remained vacant.
The board has now promoted BHB marketing director Teresa Cash to the newly-created post of marketing and communications director.
Cash will be supported by Alan Delmonte, who is promoted from executive assistant to another newly-created post - communications manager. The team also includes Richard Hayler, who remains as information officer.
Since Bell's departure, PR has come under the direct control of BHB secretary-general Tristram Ricketts and MD Chris Reynolds, to whom Cash reports.
'It was important we did this now because of increased media work we plan to do over the year due to significant racing changes taking place,' said Cash.
Changes include plans to abolish the Levy Board, the sale of the Tote to a trust of racing bodies. A government review of gambling is also underway.
