Healthcare: NHS reforms trigger multiple MHP hires

MHP's health division has made a raft of new appointments as the agency adjusts to a changing landscape in healthcare comms.

Five hires have been made, including the appointment of Stephanie Bell as associate director from Weber Shandwick.

MHP Health MD Mike Birtwistle said the appointments were a response to the NHS shake-ups and supported by 'exceptional' growth at the agency in the past year.

'With the NHS in the middle of the most significant reforms in its history, clients more than ever need high quality, policy-driven comms support,' said Birtwistle.

Also joining MHP are Isabel Arthur, as an account manager, from the MS Society, and Nicola Jacobs, as a consultant, from the National Aids Trust. Michael Speer and Sarah Dooly are also joining as consultants, from Breast Cancer Campaign and Citigate Dewe Rogerson respectively. The new recruits will be based in MHP's London offices.

Commenting on her move, Bell, who was previously associate director at Weber Shandwick, said: 'From access to cancer drugs, to important public health issues such as screening and tackling infectious diseases, I am looking forward to advising MHP's wide range of charity, NHS and commercial clients.'

MHP Health has picked up several new clients this year including Tunstall Healthcare Group, which specialises in remote services that monitor patients in their homes (prweek.com/uk, 25 February).

Commenting on the appointment in February, Birtwistle said: 'The new world will look very different to NHS commissioners, patients and suppliers alike.'
